About Come & Stay Dog Rescue:

“Come & Stay” is a dba of 4/RE Dog Rescue, Inc., which was established as a California corporation in 2025. Come & Stay is a fully qualified federal 501(c)(3) organization, meaning that all donations are tax-deductible. It was founded by a former corporate lawyer, frustrated at seeing so many beautiful, adoptable dogs in the Los Angeles area being put down simply due to lack of space. City shelters have become overcrowded, taking in dogs well beyond capacity, and struggling to match dogs to new homes before time runs out.

Many dogs are discounted as “unadoptable” for reasons such as an eye infection that temporarily impairs their appearance, or perhaps they bark out of stress. They may be shut down and terrified from being in the loud, crowded shelter. Some dogs are bonded to another dog and need to find a home together. Certain breeds are discarded with distressing regularity – primarily pit bulls, huskies, and shepherds. Breeds that require experience and training, which many would-be owners are not equipped to provide. And many dogs are just dumped, through no fault of their own. Other wonderful rescue organizations are already doing great work in the area, but there are simply not enough of them to fill the desperate need.

Come & Stay specializes in finding permanent loving homes for these difficult-to-place dogs.

As a new organization, we are still finding our feet, working to establish relationships in the rescue space, and we welcome all aid. Of particular help at this moment is simply amplifying the availability of our rescue dogs, as our social media presence is just getting off the ground.

Our Founder & Board

Ray Caldito, Founder

Ray is a veteran entertainment lawyer with a wide range of outside interests, including a love of dogs. She has always adopted dogs from public shelters or private rescue organizations, and believes deeply in the mission of rescue. She currently has two of her own dogs, both of whom are featured on the website homepage: Bear, a German Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix, adopted from Westside German Shepher Rescue, and Chelsea, a pitbull mix, adopted from Wagmor Pets.

Michele Vangelderen, Board Member

Michele is also an attorney, with a long career of public service in the State Attorney General’s office, prosecuting consumer fraud cases. She supports many non-profits and volunteers regularly at a local cat rescue. Her personal menagerie includes both dogs and cats, as well as a teenaged son.

Nicolas Peinemann, Board Member

Nico is a lifelong dog lover. He supports the organization’s digital media operations, among many other contributions.
